The Teme Valley appears to be a stronghold for all three types of UK Newt. We have the Common or Smooth Newt, The Palmate Newt and the Great Crested Newt.
All newts are protected by law, but the Great Crested is the most endagered species and holds a special protected status.
We would like to establish just how widespread and common they are.
So if you live or work in the area and come across one of these, let us know so we can look at mapping their local distribution.
Several people have already contacted us to say that they have newts in their garden pools. We need more information like this to help build up the bigger picture.
So if you're out gardening and find one.....you know what to do !
